About

Ballet Conservatory of Asheville (BCA) trains well-rounded dancers to achieve their full potential by combining weekly technique classes, frequent master classes and multiple performance opportunities. Our Classes for children, teens and adults, and our celebrated pre-professional division include ballet, pointe, partnering, men’s class, tap, Broadway jazz, and contemporary/modern. Recent master classes with renowned guest faculty, dancers, choreographers & companies include NYC Ballet’s Daniel Ulbricht, Broadway’s Nick Kepley, and ABT/Twyla Tharpe/Broadway’s John Selya. Each year, we present the Nutcracker, Winter Works: Variations & Innovations, a full-length Spring ballet, our Spring recital, and Summer Intensive Showcase. Each summer, we host open classes, children’s workshops plus our month-long, ballet Summer Intensive, for talented students from all over the country.

Angie & Chris Lynn

BCA is headed by Director Angie Lynn, former professional dancer, who brings a rich ballet background to the leadership of BCA. Angie and Christopher Lynn — Managing Director and acting instructor — started BCA in 2009.

Our curriculum-based ballet classes have strong classical foundations, incorporating a blend of techniques and styles. Faculty credentials include certification in Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) curriculum, training from School of American Ballet (SAB); and extensive professional performing careers with Pacific Northwest Ballet, Kansas City Ballet, Oregon Ballet Theatre, Alberta Ballet and Vienna Festival Ballet. BCA’s The Sleeping Beauty

We stage full-length ballets from the Russian, French & English tradition — such as Giselle, Nutcracker, Swan Lake, Coppelia, and Sleeping Beauty — to provide crucial performing and training opportunities for our students. We perform primarily in Asheville’s Wortham Theatre, one of the southeast’s finest dance venues.
